
Grand Master
Chen Xiaowang was born in 1946 in Chenjiagou, Henan, in China, and is currently the standard bearer of the 19th generation of the Chen family. He is a direct descendant of the legendary
Chen Wang Ting, originator of Chen Tai Chi Chuan in the 17th c., and carries the burden of spreading the Chen style to the next generations.
He started his education when he was just six years old, initially with his father Chen Zhao Xu and then with his uncles (excellent Tai Chi teachers all of them), and received numerous distinctions when he was still very young.
The last 20 years he is continuously travelling around the world, spreading the art of
Chen Taijiquan. His calm approach, his clear and lucid way of teaching, his deep knowledge of the art of
Taijiquan, combine with the gentleness of his character, his care for his pupils and the peace his presence exudes to make him one of the best, most important Taiji teachers with thousands of pupils all over the world.
For his extraordinary contribution he has been named
"a living Taijiquan treasure" by the chinese state. Recently he was honoured with the highest distinction in martial arts, the
9th duan.He has been visiting Greece regularly since 1997, giving seminars in which he teaches the many facets of
Tai Chi, from martial practices to meditation.
Aside from the art of
Tai Chi, he also practices the traditional chinese art of calligraphy, in which he has also received numerous distictions.
